Leaf Series
Indigenous leaves are the material for this series – harvested in autumn. They are imbued with new life through a process that turns each leaf into a semi-translucent piece of paper. Perceived as ephemeral and common, yet ironically tough and long lasting, this series takes on many forms. Landscapes narrate a sense of time and place, while aprons suggest a domestic object used to protect. Mother Nature protects, nourishes and, sustains us – we have a responsibility do the same for her. This series pays homage to the life-death-life cycle found in nature and our connection to the natural world.
